Kindness at Marquette Park

I received this story this morning and wanted to share immediately. Shout out to all the good folks at Marquette Park!

At the park with my girls yesterday and my oldest takes a bad fall , needing an ambulance. Strangers came to help willingly.

One man helped keep pressure on wound, A women helped call 911, another gentleman waved down ambulance and a sweet young girl read a book with my youngest in her stroller to keep her occupied.

They all waited until ambulance came , then they left.

I was so thankful for all of them and all of their kindness.

I wish I could personally thank and hug each one for helping me and my little girl.

Good people are out there y'all!

Wedding Flowers

My husband and I donated all of our ceremony flowers to the residents at St. Peter's villa. The thought of throwing away so many beautiful flowers that we only really used for a few hours was silly. It made us feel so good to think of all of the residents having a small flower arrangement in their rooms for Mother's Day.

Lunch Time Officer

I went to Kwik Check for lunch today with two girlfriends for the regular bi bim bop. We were taking turns paying for our lunches and after I signed my check, I walked over to the nice police officer and ask him how about his sandwich. He said it was pretty good and suggested that I tried it sometime.

I went back to the counter and paid for his lunch.

Mystery at the Mechanic's

Random act of kindness: December 2011, my truck broke down, it was in the shop, and I didn't have the $500 it was going to take to fix it. A mysterious benefactor called in a payment, and my truck was fixed. I cried and cried tears of joy in the mechanic's lobby.

Tupperware made for sharing

Act of Kindness #1

On my way to work, from time to time I see a homeless man and his dog standing on the corner of East Pkwy and Sam Cooper. He is always holding the same, "Hungry" sign. Every time I would see him I would think, "I should have made extra breakfast this morning for him." But since his appearances were sporadic, it was hard to plan such a thing.

One morning, I was running late and decided to pack my breakfast to eat at work. That morning I saw the same man and his dog. I made a split decision that I didn't need my breakfast nearly as bad as he did so as I passed him I gave him my tuppererware container filled with egg whites and sauteed kale; hardly a breakfast he is used to eating I'm sure. The next time I saw him (several weeks later), he remembered me and gave me the biggest smile and wave. Love is good.

you need one of these.

i was smiling on the outside, but mad on the inside.
i needed one of those shirts, y'all.
choose901 will release 5 more new shirt designs. They’re an incredible, local organization promoting city leadership, professional sustainability,  local investments and recruitment in Memphis with TONS of other opportunities for newbies and oldies.

i freakin' love choose901 because i freakin' love memphis.

i've seen the crew around town a couple of times, met with john carroll, and high five the team when I see them about the town. they're humble, kind, and the type of folks that you want in your city...representing your city...promoting THIS city. the first time i met with them- i was (and still am) ALL ABOUT CHOOSE901.

a couple of months ago, i walked into Republic Coffee where they were giving out their pre-ordered shirts that i didn't pre-order. As I sat in the work meeting about fundraising & development, i was utterly distracted by their large yellow sign and the mission that stands behind it.

The shirts “feature” different parts of town (Mud Island, East Memphis, Midtown, Central Gardens, High Point, etc.) to various Memphis staples (Grizzlies, The Blues, Beale Street, etc.) You’ll start seeing these shirts floating around town since we’re all Team Memphis, as we should be.

here i am happy as a clam at the farmer's market with my choose901 shirt.
i was all "MEMPHIS IS MY LIFE."

There’s limited quantity of each.. So get them while you can since I'm probably going to buy all of them.
